alright, well, I'm mormon, born and raised.
anyway, I have no clue what Ash Wednesday and Lent are, my friend had a big black mark on her head, and i asked her what it was, she just said ash wednesday, then i offered to go out with her on saturday to get something to eat and she cant. i asked her why, and she said Lent? What are these? what religion is it, and why?? (link)

its roman catholic religon. ash wednesday is the beginning of lent. lent it technically when you give up something you like/love for forty days. the black thing on her head was ashes, it symbolizes the cross or christs death. our holiday is kinda weird to you, but its what we beleive in.
