for spanish class i have to do a project related to the day of the dead...

You can definately make a fake alter. Here's a website to give you a little more of an idea of what to include. You could also make a spanish dish and serve it to the class (pan de muerto). The second website includes some crafts you could make, under the crafts section, (like the sugar skull). I hope this helps and good luck on your project!
