So I'm renting a house with friends, and somehow I ended up with the only room in the house with tacky, cheap fake wood panelling. It's kind of ugly, and I'm allowed to paint my room. I'm just concerned that it'll end up looking like painted panelling... but I don't have the time to spend filling in all the cracks. Has anybody else had to deal with something like this? I need ideas! (link)

Hey,
This is a hard one...If you are going to paint it, the best color(s) are going to be white or whiteist...other colors really make the paneling look like painted paneling...One trick that you could do..is the leave the paneling alone..and go to an appliance store and get a few of the really big boxes like a refriderator would come in and make wall size panels..either the size of the wall or almost...paint them the color that you would like and put them into place..with tacks..you can also wall paper them or just do the one wall above your bed...just be sure not to over wet them when you paint...or you could order a few of the wall size posters...like the ones that look like the ocean or whatever..they will cover an entire wall..I could suggest more..but I'm sure that, if you are renting..you don't want to go into a major project..

Thank you! I've ended up just covering my walls with pictures and posters, but those were great ideas!
