also dresses dresses dresses! lol ok so what is the average i should spend on a dress and should i wear heels and what kind, also should i take a purse? and what are some good styles of dresses that are in now and how long should they be?? i need all the dirt about homecoming!! also if i go with friends should i rent a limo?? or is it too much for a dance like that. umm just anythign would be great mostly about the dress, how long, best color, best cut, best hair do, makeup, shoes, and stuff like that! also include best stores to buy them and when i should start shopping and how much is it worth to spend! thank you!! I think that since this is the first dance in highschool that you shouldn't worry too much about it, because if things go wrong, you have three more homecomings and your junior and senior prom to go to!! Just treat this one as a practice one. When I was a freshman in highschool I went with a guy who was one of my good friends. He was too nervous to actually talk to me, so I ended up hanging out with my friends the entire time anyway. As for dancing, it's fun, but you don't HAVE to dance. At every dance I've been to there were tables and food and ALWAYS people sitting down and just hanging out. I'm sure it's different for each school though. About dresses, first you need to find out if it is semi-formal or a formal homecoming. Semi-formal means that you should wear a dress that comes to your knees (you don't have to if you want to wear one that comes to the floor). Formal means that you should wear a dress that is longer (to your feet). I went to the Body Shoppe and found one for under $40 (I seriously think it was $20 but I don't remember for sure). They have some really cute but inexpensive semi-formal dresses, if you're lucky enough to find one that cheap. You may end up spending up to $100 on one though, but I'd save that for when you went to prom (prom dresses are really expensive, I think I paid around $150 for mine if not more). There are different places in the mall that sell cute dresses, just go into some stores and look. We have a jessica mcclintock store in my mall here, and there are lots of dresses there. I know David's Bridal has tons of dresses. For homecoming, especially your freshman year, renting a limo would be fun, but is not necessary. Most people don't do that until highschool. If you and a group of friends want to go out and rent one together and split the cost of the limo, that maybe you could do that. It would be fun! Limos can be rather expensive. I think they run about $65 an hour (I'm not sure how much they are where you live, but you could call around for the best price). My dress for homecoming was black and dark purple. It was simple, with straps, and I wore black heals (there are TONS of shoe places that sell cute prom shoes, just shop around and see the ones you like best). I carried a small black purse with just my house keys and my camera (I highly suggest bring a camera with you, even if it's disposible, so you can take pictures). I went and got my hair done about 2-3 hours before homecoming. They did it in a french twist with curls coming down on the sides and in the back. Look at hair style magazines and pick out the one you like best. When you've found one, go out and get it done professionally. This can cost around $50-$100, depending on where you go and what you want done. You could also get your nails and make-up done too. If you are good at putting your make-up on yourself, then I suggest you do it, but if there is a place in your area that gives lessons, then I suggest you try it out. They will show you which colors are best for you etc. Most day-spa salons do make-up and nails, just get out the phone book and call around and ask!! You should start looking around A.S.A.P. the sooner you find a dress, the sooner you won't have to worry about it anymore. As for how much you spend, that's up to you. I wouldn't go too overboard, since this is your first dance, unless you just want to. For a dress and shoes, I wouldn't spend more than $175, for a limo, no more than $200, hair, nails and make-up, no more than $120. This comes to around $500. You definitely don't have to spend that much if you really shop around and get the best prices. Also, if you don't want to spend that much, just get a nice dress, shoes, do your hair and make-up yourself and HAVE FUN!!! I hope this helped!!! And feel free to ask me anymore questions you have! Good luck and have fun!
