ok i need major help with these two math problems. They're proportions....
x/x-3= x+4/x and x/x-1=x-2/x+5
thanks in advance
asuming that it reads x over x-3= x+4 over x you would cross multiply to get x^2=x^2 +1 and subtract x^2 from both sides and get 0=1
assuming it reads x over x-1= x-2 over x+5 you would again cross multiply and get x^2-3= x^2+5 and it would simplify to be -3=5
please explain to me how this is wrong? you write them as fractions and then proceed to cross multiply, this is an algebra problem is it not?
