Q: Hey, 15/f/NC here searching for marching band help.

You see, I transfered from private to public school this year because my private school lacked the academics I needed to get into college. I've always been a huge band geek, so the moment I saw marching band listed as an elective with credit, I signed up.

The thing is, I don't know the slightest thing about marching band! Yes, I know how to play my instrument (flute), very well, in fact. But I have no idea what "steps" they use, etc. The playing my instrument while moving factor won't be that hard, but the actual steps might be.

Do you have any tips/tricks/heads-up information to offer? If you do, PLEASE answer. Your help, however small, will be greatly appreciated.

- A slightly confused band geek.
marching band is the BOMB!! this coming year will be my second year (sophomore) and i play the flute also! even though marching band requires hours and hours of practice, it's very much worth it in the end - competitions and tournaments. (: the hardest part about the flute is the flute being parallel to the ground. works your arm muscles a lot trying to hold it up the right angle, but you'll get used to it as season rolls along. you might want to check out our marching band's website. there are a lot of marching terms toward the bottom of the page.

hope all goes well during season! (:

Thanks!
