i need advice! my freind is really skinny and she thinks shes fat. everyone tells her shes skinny, but she just seriously thinks shes fat and needs to loose weight. i dont think she is anorexic because ive seen her eat, but not that much. i think she goes to the bathroom after lunch, but thats normal, and i havent really paid attention to that every day. could she be anorexic or belemic? and if so, how do i talk to her about it?

help would be appreciated, thanx =] (link)
It's really hard to tell if someone has an eating disorder. Don't rate me low, because what I'm about to say is TRUE. You can't do anything about it. This is a mental and psycological problem that she has.

I have been anorexic myself, and still suffer from it. I know what it's like to make excuses to not eat ("I'm sick", "I already ate", "I don't like that"). I also know what it's like to have people constantly asking if I'm anorexic.

When people do that, it makes you snap at them because you want no one to know. No one.

You can't say that your friend is losing weight, because that encourages it. You can't say that your friend is gaining weight, because that will make her panic and eat even less.

There's no way to prove she's anorexic unless you're with her all day. Try to do something with her that's all day or a couple of days and notice what she eats. Don't talk to her about it, though! It will make her mad and embarrassed.

If you discover that she is anorexic and/or bulimic, you still can't do anything. Confronting her would make her mad, and telling her parents would make her even madder.

All you can do is offer her food (but not constantly, because then she'll know that you think she has a problem).
