About elipongo

I'm a single, Modern Orthodox, Jewish man.
I live in Ellington CT and I'm currently the Co-President of my synagogue, Congregation Knesseth Israel.
I work as a paramedic for the Ambulance Service of Manchester, a commercial ambulance service that does both emergencies and routine transports throughout the region.
In addition to my Paramedic License, I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
I enjoy Bicycling, Reading (Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Biographies, History), Blogging, Watching Movies on DVD (Yeah Netflix!), and meeting people.
I'm looking for that proverbial nice Jewish girl who isn't intimidated by someone who's observant. I want to settle down and raise a nice, observant family.

This is not a hard computer question so don't get scared away - on my laptop, when I leave or go somewhere I wanna leave AIM up and stuff. To do this I have to leave my laptop open but my dad wants me to close the lid because it's healthier for the computer or something. When I do that, it logs me off (which I don't care about) but it also shuts off AIM. Is there anyway to adjust anything on the computer so that AIM will stay on when I shut the lid? Thanks.
This answer if for a PC, not a Mac.
Right click on an empty part of your desktop (NOT on an icon). This will bring up a short menu.
Select the "Properties" option. This will bring up a small window called "Display Properties".
Near the top of the window you'll find several "tabs", select the one labeled "Screen Saver"
The window will change to your screen saver control. In the lower right hand corner you'll see a button labeled "Power...", click it to bring up a new window called "Power Options Properties"
The top of this window also has several "tabs", click on the one labeled "Advanced".
In the bottom half of the changed window, in the section labeled "Power Buttons" you'll find a drop down menu labeled "When I close the lid of my portable computer:"
Use that menu to select "Do nothing"
Click the "OK" buttons on both the windows.
You should now be all set!
