I am thirteen years old and I have two dogs and two cats. As much as I love my dogs right now, they are very old and they cant run or play or anything. Ive always wanted a small dog of my own but my parents say I cant have one. Should I keep on trying to get them to let me have a dog or should I lay off?

There's two good ways to go about this.
One, as a few others have said, appreciate the older animals. Some actually are great with puppies, but eventually older dogs and cats require as much responsibility as the puppies (due to medical and/or behavioral issues) and that's a lot of stress to deal with.
Or two, see about volunteering at a nearby pet rescue (such as Animal Aid). You get to help a variety of pets that'd appreciate your energy. You'll probably need your parents to okay it, but while you're talking to them about it, maybe they'd allow you to foster some of the needy animals.

It may be really difficult to back down when you're set on having your OWN pet. However, even low-maintenance pets require a lot of love and attention, something that may be difficult for you to provide if you decide to get active with school or friends (be honest with yourself about other commitments). A good pet owner must keep in mind the needs of the pet throughout it's life, not just when they're healthy, cute, and energetic.
