advice

i asked this question before but it was very confusing to understand so let me try this again...

1. Ok i have a windows 2000 computer.
2. I got it about a year ago and I have/was able to view GIF images & buddy icons and such.
3. Then about 2 weeks ago it just stopped and I dont know why, I thought that in time it would work again but its not.
4. it stopped working as in if I was to look at a moving buddy icon (or icons from livejournal.com or something) it wouldn't be moving, it would just be the first frame but still.
5. what caused this to happen? is there anyway to fix it? is it not working because i have a windows 2000 computer? please help im so annoyed/confused :[

The best place to look would be in the file associations. Here is where you can find those.

Open any folder. (My Documents, My Computer, Metwork Neighboorhood, just as examples.)

Under the "TOOLS" menu select folder options.

You should be able to find a tab that is "FILE TYPES"

Now scroll through that list to see if you can find the GIF extension, the left most column is where you are looking and it's in alphabetical order.

Once you know if listed or not, we can help a bit more.

If it is not listed, then you have to click on the "NEW" button. Type in the extension then click "OK".

Now it should be listed and you can make sure it opens with the correct program by selecting that extension and clicking on "CHANGE"

That will produce a list of programs available to open those file types.

I'm not sure if it would be available but, on my computer it's Microsoft Photo Editor for the program.

Once you find the right one to use on your computer you will be able to see those GIFs the correct way.
