I'm a girl, 15, generally use good grammar (yay!), and a huge fan of sarcasm though I know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. Politics, psychology, philosophy, and history all fascinate me. The music I like usually falls under the genres of psychedelic and classic rock. I hate rap. And George W. Bush. I like giving advice because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that other people are crazier than I am.
Ask away, I'll try to answer anything!

Hey!
Well My mom and I really want to get me into modeling. Like not like the boring modeling. Like the real hardcore modeling Like abercrombie & stuff. But I know you have to start somewhere.
I live in a town in Coloraod & its not the type where theres like ads everywhere asking for models.
But I dont where to start. Do I get an agent? & How do I get an agent. I really dont know anything about this!!
Alright, well first off you have to be quite unique or interesting looking, tall, and skinny. You can be the most gorgeous girl in the world and not make it in the modelling world, the business is tricky like that... you have to have the right look and the right attitude (you have to not mind being bossed around!)
If thats all good, then you need to get a portfolio together, some agencies do this, but usually charge a fee. You could probably start out with asking your mother or maybe a friend who's taken photography classes to take pictures of you... a close up shot of your face, full length shot of you in a swimsuit, and a side profile of your face would all the good things to have. Make sure you're not wearing too much makeup in it, agencies want an accurate picture of what you look like.
Once you have a portfolio, find a good agency. By good I mean somewhere that's somewhat respectable and doesn't offer anything sleazy like social escorting or nude photoshoots.... you don't want to get yourself in that position. Try searching Google for agencies around your area. Most websites of places have an email address up or a phone number, so contact them and schedule a meeting. When you meet with them, dress appropriately (i.e. not too skanky or anything, but something that has a unique flair to it) and be as friendly and honest as you can. If they accept you, awesome, if they don't, dont worry about it, just try again somewhere else.
And also DONT expect to get into Abercrombie & Fitch type modelling when you first start out. After a few jobs, you'll get more experienced, and with experience will come the more high profile stuff that you want. Also don't expect to make much money at first, inexperienced models aren't paid much. If you make it through the first couple of jobs and stuff you will probably see your oppurtunities starting to get better.
Also sweetheart, modeling isnt as glamourous as it's cracked up to be. Models spend days intensely practicing for runway shows and have be able to stand in the exteremely bright light while hundreds of people in the audience analyze your every move to see if you're doing something wrong. Photographers are usually exteremely picky and it takes many many takes to get something right. It does have its perks though... theres nothing quite like seeing yourself in an ad!
Take care and have fun, hope everything works out for you.
