Don't be scared! If you really like him, then there is nothing for you to be scared about. Take a risk! Everyone has to look stupid at some point or another, although I doubt you will! Unless you are totally unprepared and have no idea what to say! Just listen to him when he talks to other people, and maybe you could get an idea of what he likes to talk about. But I think you should already have somewhat of an idea if you like him! If you are absolutely too shy to tell him on your own, you could always ask a friend to do it for you. Or tell one of his friends! But do you really want to tell him rite now? I mean think about it..if you don't know how to tell him you like him, and you don't have anything to talk about..what will you say to him when you two talk? You have to think of this stuff ahead of time, otherwise there is going to be a lot of awkward silence between the two of you! What does he like to do? What do you like to do? What do you two have in common, and what would he like to talk about? Think about it, and then tell him.
