I was wondering. Do any of your know what the valence is for the element lithium?

The valence electrons for lithium is 1 because it's group number is one. See the valence electrons are whatever number the group number is. If it's Sodium, it's valence electron is 1. If it's Magnesium, then it's valence electron is 2. Groups 3-12 don't have valence electrons. If it' s Boron, then it's valence electron is 3. I know , you're thinking that it's supposed to be 13 because it's in group thirteen. But whenever you have groups 13-18, you always say that the number of valence electrons is the second number behind the first in its group number. For instance, Carbon's valence electron is 4 but since 14 is it's group number, and four is the 2nd number behind one which makes it 14,then 4 is therefore the valence electron. This counts for group 13-18. So, I really do hope that I was a little help and if I confused you more , please disregard it.
