About HyperactiveMiss
Hello!
Ask away! If you'd like to know me better, check out my websites by clicking here and viewing my collective. I always try to give detailed and helpful advice. Please feel free to ask me for advice and DO give me feedback! Reading good comments and knowing that I helped someone out literally puts a smile on my face.
Please be sure to look at the FAQ on my column. If you ask a question similar to one I've already answered, I will most likely reply with the same answer.
Grammar, Punctuation, etc
I think if Advicenators are going to take the time to answer other peoples' questions and give free and helpful advice, the least people could do is use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc when they are asking for help. It's unbelievable how some people TyPe LiKe ThIs, or never use periods, or don't have the time to do a "seempl nd quik speel chek".
Pet Peeve
I think that's totally lame when someone rates you down just because they don't want to accept the truth. It's also annoying if they rate you down, just because they didn't like your answer. Advicenators isn't about hearing what you want to hear. It's about finding the truth. People should be thankful that someone gave their time and effort. They should be thankful their question was even answered at all.
Rating & Feedback
Let me just remind you what each number means when you rate someone. These are OFFICIAL.
1- Pretty Bad Advice
2- Not Harmful, But Not Useful Either
3- Decent Enough Advice
4- Good Advice
5- Really Awesome Advice
I think everyone should give feedback, not just a rating. And feedback should include WHY you gave that person that specific rating. If everyone did that, everyone would probably rate more accurately. Also, the advice giver took the time to answer the question. The least the question asker could do is to give feedback! But unfortunately I guess it's too hard and mind boggling for everyone to do.

I have the weirdest phobia (Well to me) I can not swallow pills. My sister used to have trouble with it too, but she eventually got over it. My younger brother has ADD so he has to have pills so he it's no problem for him. But when I was little I had choked on something and I blacked out before it was dislodged, and even though I know it's not going to happen just because I try swallowing a pill, I still have a "pill phobia". Anyway is there anything I can do that will help me get over it. Or just ways to make swallowing pills easier? I'm almost 15, and a sophmore in high school, and I'm still telling doctors when I'm sick that I need a liquid or chewable, I don't want to be an adult doing the same thing. It's embarassing. I have friends that won't swallow a pill unless they have to, but even if it was the only way, I'd rather just be sick. So if you have tips on making swallowing pills easier or just getting over the phobia, please let me know!! Thanks in advance!
Don't worry, I used to have a sort of pill phobia as well. It used to be pretty embarrassing to say "Oh no, I can't take pills!"
I think the best way is to take pills every day because it makes you find a technique to get it down you're comfortable with and you start getting used to it. It might be a little hard at first, but you'll get it. Dear gosh no! I don't mean you should take any old pill every day so you can "practice". You can take a vitamin pill and other pills that will help your body. That way you can kill two birds with one stone! I think that partially helped me get over being afraid of pills. I took them everyday and I still am.
For everyday during the first week or more when I was taking the pills, I would be afraid of swallowing. Sometimes I'd have it sitting in my mouth with the water but I couldn't make it go down. And when I did try to swallow sometimes the water would go in before the pill did, oops! lol.
Anyway, here are some more tips. Place the pill at the back of your tongue. Not so that you gag, just so that when you drink water it will go right in. Don't worry if it gets caught in your throat because you can always drink down as much more water as you need and the pill WILL go down. That's why you should fill your cup with lots of water.
This is common sense, but if the pill is ovalish, make sure the pill will go down the slim way and not the other way around. It'll make it easier to swallow.
Good luck!
