Are there any heros these days? Who is out there to inspire us with a personal example of virtue and self-sacrifice in the name of a higher good? Who can we look up to? Business leaders? Sports figures? Politicians? Celebrities? Heck, we're lucky if they don't end up in prison. (link)

That depends on your definition of a hero. The heroes in my life were the people closest to me. My older brother, my god-father and others were people I looked up to and wanted to be like. All the positions you mentioned could have heroes in them too. What we have to remember is that they are people and people make mistakes for whatever reason. That doesn't make them any less of a hero. The true mark of a hero isn't who he can knock down but whether or not they can stand up after being knocked down. No one is perfect and the day we recognize that is the day we will all be heroes!

thanks. It's really a few lines from Calvin and Hobbes, but I was seriously wondering. I think of the creator of this comic is a hero, for reasons too long to type right now.
