Q: A friend came to me with a problem. She's been involved with a man for about 10 years now. She recently rekindled a relationship she had with a much older man. Her problem, she loves them both, but is torn between them. The older man was a friend of her fathers and has more of an infatuation with him, meanwhile her feelings towards the other man is starting to fizzle out. What should she do?

It seems likely to me that she's restarting the old relationship to escape from her current one. The older man may feel safe because of the connection to her father or being with him may feel more exciting because it's illicit. Neither is a good basis for a relationship. If she's with him to get away from her long time SO, neither relationship is likely to work out. So, my advice, without knowing more about why her current relationship is "fizzling," is to stop seeing the "other man" and go to a counselor with her current SO.
Good luck to your friend,
S
Ok, she needs to dump both of these guys. She wouldn't be feeling these emotions for the older gentleman if she were really in love with the guy she is currently with. Dump them both and start over.

We are two twenty-somethings with plenty of advice and opinions to spare. Really, we have something to say about almost anything: love, money, clothes, cars, life in general. So, ask away and be prepared for us to do a little something we like to call breakin' it down for you.
