advice

i go to winnfield middle school and we have school uniforms and i started a petition to get rid of them. so i had alot of names until the principal caught me and said she didn't authorize it. how can i get rid of uniforms without having to get it authorized. i thought about gettin people to sign it off of school grounds.

p.s. if anybody here goes to winnfield middle school e-mail me at edt_09@yahoo.com

Well, why do you want to get rid of the uniforms? Perhaps you merely want to change the uniforms? (e.g. colour, clothes worn). What would be allowed to replace these uniforms? Would there be a dress code set in place? If the petition is going to work in the first place, it's got to have realistic aims and alternatives -- it'll show that the students are taking the issue seriously. Perhaps?... suggest to the Student Representative Council (if your school has one or something similar) uniforms as a point of discussion. If the staff is aware of the number of people who don't want to wear uniforms, they might be prepared to consider a petition, once it's been brought to their attention in the right way, although to be honest, I doubt they would abolish uniforms completely.

I have finals for school coming up next week and I'm in a studying rage at the moment.

What's the best way to study large amounts of material? And how do I keep from forgetting it all right after I've read it?

Well, everybody studies differently, but generally you can make good use of post-it notes, _especially_ when studying languages, for sticking around the house, to help reinforce a point. Use highlighters for important stuff (but I'm sure you know that), and try to break up large amounts of material into smaller sections and assign yourself a certain section or two per day. Write practice essays (if you have essay-style subjects), and refer back to the material as you write them. Just don't cram the night before, and get a good night's sleep; if you feel the need to cram (as opposed to merely revising), then you probably haven't studied enough anyway, and a good sleep helps ensure a calm state of mind.

Okay, there's this guy I like. But, I'm not sure he likes me back. He isn't very nice to me around his friends, and he wasn't mean before I told him I like him. BUT I went to a sports game of his, and he kept looking at me. Is it because I was out of place or not? PLEASE HELP! Thanks for your time- Sakura

I'm not sure if I can help much, but I do have a question you can ponder; is he nice to you when his friends _aren't_ around? It does seem strange that he would suddenly dislike you, out of the blue, unless his friends have something to do with it, or he's cautious of what they would think of him.

My younger sister constantly bugs me, because I don't have 50 friends like she does. I just have 15, 6 of which I talk to on a *daily* basis. Is it bad that I don't have a million friends like she does, or is she just being a bitch?

People are different of course, so if you're happy with your friends, who is your sister to judge? I have six friends that I talk to on a daily basis just like you, and I'm happy, whereas there are some who like to hang out with a lot of people. Why does the number of friends matter, when it all comes down to 'quantity vs quality'?

Ok so when im at school and im around my friends im fine speaking and all, but if im talking in front of groups or just random people i just blank out or say something stupid like, when the principal shook my hand and said congratulations i said," Nice to meet you." Is that normal?

Oh, that's definitely normal; it happens to me a lot as well! Don't worry about it -- you're just nervous, and the principal, or anybody else for that matter, probably knows that you're feeling nervous. Besides, it seems like you're polite when you reply. :D

im 14, so obviously im growin up, but my dad cant seem 2 accept dat i am! he says he doesnt want boys near me, n that im still a little girl. i know he just does it coz he luvs me, but i dont want him to treat me like a kid all my life!

Ah, but you've still got a while to grow yet. :) I'm not patronising you, for I can actually empathise a bit, since my parents were the same.

Give it time. You've got plenty of time to meet new people, and your dad does sound reasonable. When you have the chance to go out, take it, BUT follow through his conditions to the letter -- do come home well before the deadline, for example. If you're not allowed to go out, don't nag, but ask calmly his reasons why, and if he's firm in his decision, it would probably be best to accept it. Establish your maturity and let your dad be impressed.

hey I have a question. What is the diference between a christain or a cathloc? I always thought that they were the same in general. but sence being on this site I have noticed people say they are in fact diferent.

and one more thing can somebody tell me what a pagan is? not to be rude or anything. i know that that is a religion but do magic or something.

so answering my question would really be helpful.
signed
confused Christain

Well, about the 'pagan' thing; there are two contexts in which people use 'pagan' --

1) a general term which describes non-Christian religions, as Moop said. Religions like Hinduism and Buddhism (I'm technically Buddhist) are considered to be 'pagan'.

However, I think what most people mean when they use the term now are:

2) to describe the many religions which are 'new age' or have moved away from the traditional religions such as Christianity. Wicca and Druidism are examples. Some pagan religions do magic, some don't.
