Advicenators discussion: American schools rainbowcherrie wrote Wednesday August 22 2007, 7:02 am: Is it really like it is on Mean Girls? LOL_x0x wrote Wednesday August 22 2007, 6:30 pm: Only sometimes ;] rainbowcherrie wrote Thursday August 23 2007, 6:01 am: It's really that busy with girls walking around in mini skirts and heels? Matt wrote Thursday August 23 2007, 8:35 pm: It sort of depends on where you are. Actually, a lot of our movies are exaggerated for entertainment. LOL_x0x wrote Friday August 24 2007, 6:22 pm: My school has A LOT of people. We are overcrowded.
The girls don't wear heels and mini skirts THAT much, but some do.
I prefer skinny jeans and vans myself =D rainbowcherrie wrote Friday August 24 2007, 6:40 pm: American school looks so different to UK school. We have uniforms and it's all structured and strict but you guys look like you have so much fun! LOL_x0x wrote Sunday August 26 2007, 2:06 pm: Really?
Ehh school can be fun, at times, I suppose. Matt wrote Sunday August 26 2007, 9:22 pm: It depends on the kind of school you go to. If you go to a religious school, you'll probably have some sort of uniform here. My school chooses to have a dress code, while others don't. (We have to wear solid colored collared shirts and no jeans). rainbowcherrie wrote Monday August 27 2007, 6:21 am: What is there apart from jeans? LOL_x0x wrote Monday August 27 2007, 4:12 pm: Khakis? Dress pants? rainbowcherrie wrote Monday August 27 2007, 6:18 pm: Khakis? Like, in the army? Matt wrote Monday August 27 2007, 8:17 pm: Dockers, Dickies, etc. rainbowcherrie wrote Wednesday August 29 2007, 5:33 am: Dockers?
Am I just totally trouser illiterate? christina wrote Friday August 31 2007, 7:51 am: The girls at my school dress like they do in Mean Girls.
School for us can be that way, but like Matt said, it really depends on where you are. School is fun for us. I'd hate to go to school anywhere strict. I'm really used to the freedom they give us. Haha. rainbowcherrie wrote Friday August 31 2007, 6:30 pm: It's not THAT strict here, but it does seem a lot less fun than it does in America. You guys always seem to be walking down corridors with millions of people and driving to school. LOL_x0x wrote Friday August 31 2007, 7:04 pm: "walking down corridors with millions of people"
Yup. My school exactly. Try like 8000 people in a hallway that's about wide enough for like 6.
If that makes any sense. Matt wrote Saturday September 29 2007, 6:53 pm: "Touch wood."
Same deal as "knock on wood"? rainbowcherrie wrote Sunday September 30 2007, 6:03 am: I assume so?
It's like a good luck thing yeah? S_C wrote Sunday September 30 2007, 7:42 pm: For us knock on wood is when you say something that makes you lucky and then you "knock on wood" so you don't jinx yourself.
Like if I were to say "I don't know anyone who has died" then I would follow that up by saying "knock on wood" and, if possible, actually knocking on wood so that nobody I know dies.
Unfortunately that is an untrue example, but you get the point.
Apparantly they're the same thing.. or at least this site says so.

I love exploring cultural differences =] Matt wrote Sunday January 6 2008, 10:57 pm: What do you guys call the... place you live? The United Kingdom? England? Britain? Great Britain? rainbowcherrie wrote Monday January 7 2008, 3:37 pm: On the internet, generally I say that I live in the UK. Sometimes I'll be specific and say England. I don't often use Britain though. Matt wrote Friday January 25 2008, 12:57 am: Thanks for deleting that last post. I don't want people to know I wear spaghetti straps. :/ Cux wrote Sunday February 17 2008, 11:39 am: Actually I've always wondered what you guys call it.. haha.
In History it seems to change a lot and it often Britain..
=] Matt wrote Monday May 12 2008, 12:44 am: Do you guys have anyone spouting conspiracy theories about those London bombings three years ago?
I honestly think the majority of teenage Americans believe that 9/11 was an inside job done by the government. What a bunch of morons. rainbowcherrie wrote Monday May 12 2008, 11:01 am: Nah, not at all. I have literally never heard of anything like that, but I'm sure someone somewhere has some crazy theory.
I've always that was insane. Cux wrote Wednesday July 16 2008, 4:25 pm: Haha =]
