It is always a competition between my best friend and I for who can get a better tan over the course of the summer. We do it naturally by laying outside instead of fake baking. We don't tan ecessivley or anything, but lately I've been wondering about skin cancer and all that. My mom told me to use some sun tan lotion to block the violent rays of the sun..but will that stop me from getting a good tan? Thx

Alright, I am 16 and I live with my twin sister, my 19 year old brother, and my mom. She has always been pretty overprotective, especially after my dad died of brain cancer. But recently it has gotten uncontrollable. She makes up stupid excuses so I can't go hang out with my best friend. She acts like she doesn't trust me but when I ask her why she doesn't she doesn't give a reason. I have a feeling that the reason she doesn't want me going places is because she doesn't want me growing up so fast. Ok well I have this really really hott boyfriend, and my friend really really likes him I mean alot! And just to be nice I invite her to go bowling, movies, dinner with us! And recently she's been like sitting by him, and on her web site she said that they kissed and held hands (but she wont say his name) I have discovered that the only reason she's really hanging out with me is to get closer to him and go out. Now i've asked my boyfriend about the haolding hands and kissing but he said nothing ever went on their just friends! And he wouldnt lie to me! My sister is dating this guy, and he has a really hott, so sweet, caring, brother my age and i really wanna go out with him...But I'm too afraid to ask him out. I don't know why I'm so scared. I'm shy...I see him every morning and I already wrote a note but I didn't give it to him....My friends say I should ask him out, but I'm sooo shy and I'll be too afraid to give him the note. So..what should I do? Do I ask him out directly, give him the note, or don't ask him out? Oh and what do I do about the shyness??

this is kind of long.im 16. ok so I have had this friend that I have known since pre-k, and we used to be super cool. and now that its summer we had all these plans to have sleepovers and everything and just have fun. but we only have gotten together once since the beginning of summer and that was like for only like an hour and a half. and the first day we planned to have a sleepover and she said she would call when shes about to come over, but she never called that night. so i called the next day and we planned to have a sleepover that night but she didnt call again. after a while i just gave up and we havnt talked since like the last time (a couple of days ago) that i asked for her to come over. she never gave a reason for her not coming ...

I've always wondered this...
Why do teens think that they "need" a boyfriend or girlfriend? What's so great about it?
I follow that at least in high school and college it's kind of a time to experiment with relationships and all, but I just don't really follow why teens think they "need" someone, especially since a lot of it seems to end kind of painfully for people.
Anyway, long story short, I'm confused about why people think it's something they need, why they seem to look so hard for it at a young age, and what's so great about having a boy/girlfriend.

car accident!! =(

okay well one of my friends was in a very bad car accident last night...she swerved off the road, the car flipped and she was thrwn from the car and stoped breathin so they put her into a coma. Right now she is suffering from a fractured skull, broken ankle, broken eye socket, broken nose, and many bruises.. Im not really sure what a coma is, and i dont really understand what the doctors are gonna do to her, so could somebody please explain to me ablout it?! thanks in advance!!

Theres this boy that goes to my school. His bestfriend had told me that he likes me. I liked him too.
My friends(not with my permission) went up to him and asked"Do you like Kelly(me)" and he said"no, i dont like her" or "its not that i dont like her, i dont really know her"
