should you give advice when not asked?

I'm a guy and just wondering - when I am being told of a situation or problem, and the person (usually my friend or girlfriend) does not ask for my advice, is it wrong if I do give my advice and thoughts on it? I find myself doing that too often, instead of just listening. Nobody has really said anything about it, but when I hear other people talk about it, I realize that about myself. So should I just try to listen and be there for them or is what I am doing ok? Thanks in advance, will rate.

How can I help a friend to stick up for herself?

I'm really troubled by the way a close friend of mine seems to be compromising her values for her boyfriend. She has always been really strongly against illegal drugs of any kind. And her boyfriend uses drugs. I think it's just pot, not anything harder (though I'm not sure), and he's not a serious addict or anything, but that's still enough to bother her a ton. Even worse is his attitude about it. She complained that him using drugs made her uncomfortable, and then the next time he was going to a party, he told her that he wanted her to come along only if she promised to "behave" (that's the exact word he used) and not complain at all. She's told him that this bothers her, but she also keeps making excuses for him, and won't...

Friendship Trouble

Okay so I sit with 4 other girls at my lunch table. 2 of them are really good friends of mine. The one girl, Jen, only sits there cause she has trouble walking. The other girl is friends with my one friend. Anyway, one of my friends, Brittney and her friend Sarah, told Jen that I was saying all this stuff about her when I didnt. Brittney and Sarah were the ones gossiping about her. So Jen freaked out at me and im innocent. My other friend, Ashley tried to tell Jen that the other two were gossiping, but Brittney denied it and Jen called Ashley a liar. (it's long but important info.) ever since this guy moved here (we'll call him James) I've liked him so much. James is the only guy I've ever trusted and the only one I can be my 100% self in front of. We're like brother and sister and we never get mad at each other. Best friends?

Well my best friend and I went on a week long vacation together and I think were really annoyed with each other. I found out everything HAS to be her way; nothing can ever be her fault; and she thinks everyones in love with her.
Now I can't stand talking to her cause I realize all these little things about her that drive me insane. However, I feel so empty with out her! What do I do?

my bff has been my bff for as long as i can remember. but since we've been in high school she has really gotten inot the party scene and sexual thing. i do the party thing. so idc. but what has been bothering me is she doesnt care who she hurts, if she wants it she'll do it. my other bff, she is into two guys. both of which are bad guys that arent loyal no matter what. well my 1st bff was at my party last night and she had sex with my 2nd bff's man. one of them. and she told me to not say anything. but i hate this. it happens between the two of htem all the time. what can i do.

There is this guy that i like but i dont know if he likes me. We talk like evryday for at least like two hours. We are either talking on the phone, texting, or talkin on MSN. But he is always asking me if i like him. But these past like two days i have been trying to talk to him but he wont pick up his phone or text me back or e-mail me back. What is going on? Does he like me or is he just mad at me for the moment? What should i do?

i'm a sophmore in high school and have been going out with my gf since september. we go to different schools but they are pretty close only like 20 minutes awayy. she said shae doesnt want me to talk to her friends from skool which is weird, cuz i actually introduced her to friends from my skool. her friends are never around or with us when we hang out but i've met them a few times. is it wrong for her to do that, tellm e i cant talk to her friends?

There are these freshman in my art class and they're sooo annoying! I'm pretty preppy and they think I'm sometimes overly preppy..but hey, that's just me.
Anyways, they always give me dirty looks and they talk about me..I know it. Like I see them talking about me. I don't know why they hate me...I've never done anything to them! I always try to be nice & smile to everyone! Should I confront them and ask them? Please help!

sorry if this is long but anyone who can help me , it would be greatly apprecaited. Alright so it all started out when his boy moved away. but he moved back this year around like julyish and everyone was like curious of what would happen when there family moved back. Like would the old "groups' go back would everhthing be the same. So i made a promise to my friend that i would never ditch her for him. So everything was going good. OK...soo well i've always been pretty close with my boyfriends mom. and well now i dont know what to think. she's never really seen me and her son do anything. but last night she saw me on top of him making out in the hottub...and i dont know whatelse she saw.

i don't even know what i'm asking really, but i'm really upset.
today my friends had a party to watch a movie and they said they called me, but there was nothing on my caller id, no messages, and my cell phone was on and with me and never rang. i really feel forgotten by my friends and really hurt. how can i keep myself from being forgotten again?

Me and this guy have been best friends for like 3 years and we were really really close and i trusted him with everything. In 6th grade we went out but it was ntohign big or anything we lasted about a month. I went out with other people but in the middle of 7th grade i really started to believe that I loved him.. truely loved him.
