Does anyone have ANY type of pimple medication that will make them go away quickly [a day or two]. Anything will work, either something I can make or buy.

If you're really rushed and have one of those nasty under-the-skin zits(the ones that never come to a head but lurk redly for a million years), you can go to your doctor for a cortisone shot that will clear it up quickly.

If it's normal acne, you can put straight rubbing alcohol to dry them out, but if you have sensitive skin it's not a good idea because that's VERY damaging.

Another way to dry them out is to leave a paste of sugar and water on individual pimples overnight(toothpaste works too).

i was just wondering if this happened to anyone. my bely ring got infected prob cus i touched it and changed alot but i switched mi cleaning stuff to bactine i was using sea salt before n the infection went away but i liek burned it and it just never healed after that and so i went to a piercer n they told me to take it out and get repierced but the hole is taking forever to close. n i went to a different piercer n they said i woudl have to forget about it for awhile till it heals. im just wondering if anyone has had this happen or knows anything abuot hwo logn it take or if thre is anything i canput on it (link)
I would like to personally kick in the teeth any piercer who told you to take out the jewelry when your piercing was infected.

If it is infected, DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take out the jewelry. It can close up around the infection and cause a much more serious problem.

Chances are it's not infected, just irritated. If it was infected, you should have gone to a doctor and gotten antibiotics for it.

Don't use bactine to clean it. Sea salt soaks are the best and, in my opinion, only good way to care for piercings. You may have been using the wrong proportion of sea salt to warm water, though, and that could cause problems. If you taste the solution, it should only be about as salty as your tears, no more.

When you get older(around forties and fifties probably) your vision starts to go in the opposite direction, so for people with very minor vision problems(like mine, which is -0.5 and -0.75), it is possible for it to even out. But for you, it is doubtful. If you are that fed up with glasses and contacts, you could look into Lasik vision correction surgery.

I know I probably won't get to you by only saying that being bulimic isn't healthy.

But I'll tell you exactly why it isn't healthy.

The health affects of bulimia include:
-Erosion of tooth enamel, cavities, and tooth sensitivity to hot and cold
-Swelling and soreness of salivary glands
-Stomach ulcers
-Ruptures of stomach and esophagus
-Irregular heartbeat and sometimes HEART ATTACK

And I once read about a girl who had bulimia and she couldn't stop because as soon as she swallowed food her body thought that it was a normal response to vomit.

Being bulimic can majorly mess up your metabolism. It can even make you GAIN WEIGHT.

If nothing else in this message gets through to you, hopefully that last thought will.

Can anyone on here tell me they know the feeling of absolute despair? That's what I've been going through for the past several months. The past week has been really bad. I haven't been able to think, to focus, to sleep, even to talk is hard because I can't seem to put words behind it. Even my schoolwork is suffering. In my English class for an in-class essay, I couldn't write it. I just couldn't get past the prompt "Choose a novel or play in which a character experiences a point of no return in his life, where his life will never be the same again, and explain its impact on the character." I just couldn't write about that because it so closely paralelled what I'm going through right now.
Please don't think I'm just some 13 year old girl who needs to rebell. I'm 17 and I'm graduating at the end of this year, and everything in my life has been coming to a head. My schoolwork is suffering because I can't seem to find the passion that I used to have for seeking out knowledge, my home life is hell because my mom is emotionally and sometimes physically abusive, and she's trying to block my entrance into college in the fall. I just feel like everything's falling apart and I can't get through this time.
I feel an intense desire to just quit life, to seek out the absolution of death, just to escape the hell I'm living right now. But I'm too afraid to do it. I can't just draw a razor across my wrist. I've already talked to people about this, my high school principal, the director of social services, and a really big source of support has been my boyfriend. But I can't do this anymore, I can't drag anyone else into it, I can't talk one more time and force myself to think about my pitiful excuse for a life and how badly I've screwed things up.
If you've stuck with my ramblings this far thank you. I would really, really appreciate any advice.

You need to get help. You should go to a psychologist who will help you with your problems and possibly put you on antidepressants.

And I know what you mean by the "13 year old girl who needs to rebel" comment, but for future reference, you should not judge people just because they are young. I am fourteen and clinically depressed and even very young children can have depression.

Melt 1 tablespoon of honey and stir in 1 teaspoon of olive oil and put in on your lips as lipgloss.

1/4 cup beeswax
1/4 cup castor oil
2 tbsp sesame oil
Beet juice
Melt beeswax in top of double boiler. Remove from heat and add oils. Add as much beet juice as desired for color. Store in jar. You can add essential oils for fragrance.

1 tablespoon Vaseline & 3 drops peppermint oil.

3 tbsp. Sweet Almond Oil
1 tbsp. Kokum Butter
1 tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. Beeswax

1 tbsp. of your favorite Essential Oil (Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Italian Bergamot, Orange)
**Combine all of your fixed oils in a small saucepan. Melt over low heat until your mixture has melted. Remove from heat. While your oils are still warm add your favorite essential oil and blend the mixture thoroughly. Pour mixture into your favorite containers: Lip jars, tins, or tubes. This recipe makes approximately 3 1/3 oz

5 tbsp. Castor or Jojoba Oil
1 tbsp. Beeswax
1 tsp liquid glycerin,
3-5 drops peppermint essential oil
***Combine the oil and beeswax in a small saucepan using a double boiler method, warm until the wax is melted. Remove ingredients from heat. While your oil and wax mixture is still a warm liquid add your liquid glycerine and essential oil and blend the mixture thoroughly. Pour(use our transfer pipettes to avoid spilling) into your favorite containers (tins, tubes, or jars).

We don't need religion. Hear me out. If Jesus were to come down from Hevan and say "I am the son of God" and showed us all of is water to wine stuff, scientist could test it and then Christianity would become a science and all other religions would be be proven wrong and therefore not be religions.

Some people just want something to believe.

Religion is about faith, not science. We have absolutely not reached a point where no one needs religion. If he had, would there be so many churches, temples, mosques, and other places or worship around the world? Would people be obsessively religious? Would people advertise their religions by wearing cross necklaces, etc.?

I must say the above things would probably not be true, and they are.

So maybe one day humans will put their faith in science instead of religion, but at the moment, we are not at that point.

i have to read a book for english and i cant decide on what to do.

the only main requirements are that it has to be atleast 200 pages (no more than 300 please) and at our reading leve (10th grade)

my favorite book is the giver but i cannot read that because it is too short and i like books along that line.

i like more true to life kind of books with relatable characters and i dislike things like harry potter and lord of the rings

any suggestions? please if you name a book give me a little background info on it! (link)
I strongly suggest anything by Michael Crichton. He writes absolutely brilliant sci fi/thriller books(he wrote Jurassic Park, for example). His books are packed with information(he went to Harvard Medical school, so he has a lot to say) and usually longer than what you want, but they are very fast-paced and hard to put down so they seem shorter. Although his books may be a little more hard to swallow than what you usually like, he's really an amazing author and you should give him a chance.

I absolutely love to read. Can anyone give me lots of great teen books (novels are great!) that you absolutely loved...Most likely if a lot of people have read it, ive read it too. so think of some good ones that not many have read. some examples of my faves are Looking For Alaska, and Hard Love. Just looking for some more options!Thanks a bunch.
A great series that a lot of girls can relate to is the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson by Louise Rennison.

My favorite author is Michael Crichton, and although what he writes is far from teen books, you might want to give him a shot(I can't put his books down).

right, i know people wont like this question as 100's of other people ask the same thing. but i actually do need to lose weight, i need to loose 36 pounds to be my right weight for my height.

my career actually depends on this, i want to join the army or royal marines (i live in the UK) so yeah this needs to happen by about this time next year.

i am so desperate to do this healthily and slowly so i won't put all the weight back on.

i just have NO willpower at all, i say i wont eat chips/chocolate/fizzy drinks.. and i do i just can't help it.. i think im also addicted to carbs i can't stop eating potato based foods.. chips/fries/chocolate that kind of stuff.

so if any one has any tips on how to stick to this, i know what i have to eat/excersise etc but how can i stick to this and not give into carbs??

If you have a problem not being able to resist foods like that, just don't buy them.

If you live with your family or a roommate, and they aren't willing to keep junk food out of the house, make them hide it from you so you can't have any.

Another thing you could do is go on one of those diets where you buy the food from them and you eat only that for a month or whatever(i.e. Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig...I don't know what you have in the UK). That way you could keep only that food in the house and you won't be tempted to eat anything else.

Also, get your friends to be supportive about this. When you go out, have them remind you to order a salad or something healthy, and no matter how much you beg, they can't give you junk food or share theirs with you.

You need to keep reminding yourself that your job depends on this. It's not just you wanting to look better. If you don't do this, you can't join the army. Keep that in mind. You can't follow your dream if you don't stick to this.

I would like to gain at least 20-30 pounds before April 11th, 2006 (my b-day) I am at least 120 pounds. All of my life, I have been skinny. I'm now 14 years old and in high school. Most of the girls are thick with boobs and butt. I got butt but nothing more. I'm a black girl and I'm not thick but long and skinny. If I were to gain at least 30 pounds (of thickness!) I would fill out my clothes better and feel good about myself.

If you want to gain weight, there is one thing you definately should not do: DON'T DON'T DON'T eat a lot of crappy food. That will not only make you gain weight but it could mess with your heart.

Eat high-protein foods. Fat is okay, but better if it comes from nuts or certain types of fruits and veggies than from red meat.

Don't do aerobic exercise, because that will burn fat. Muscle-building exercises should be okay, though.

I'm 5'7, 170ish pounds, and very inactive. I go to school, and then sit at the computer all day.

A few days ago I decided to start a diet, but I don't think I'm doing it right. I calculated that I need about 2300 calories a day, is that right? Or is that how much I consume? How much do I actually need a day?

Today, I consumed a total of 1163 calories. A pound is 3,500 calories. Does this mean that I'm -1137 calories today, meaning I lost half a pound? You should worry less about calories, it can drive people crazy.

If you burn more calories than you eat, that is losing calories.

A good amount of daily calories if you are on a diet is 1500. The average person has 2000 a day.

I've been losing alot of hair lately, mainly when I take a shower/bath there is a large amount of hair on top of the drain and when ever I run my hand though my hair there is always a few strands.
so I was wondering if its because of bad nutrition, dying my hair, or from straighting it.
I've died my hair many times before just this time its black. So maybe I'm just seeing all the hair now because its black and not the light brown it was before.
I'm vegan so I know I don't get enough calcium or protein ( I take a multivitamin for everything else ).

Dying and straightening your hair is probably not the problem. The only thing that could make your hair fall out would probably be over-bleaching your hair or dying it too many times in a short period of time.

You should get more vitamins in your diet. I know that some people's bodies can only use vitamins if they come from food, not from pills.

You should talk to a doctor because this could be a sign of a serious problem.

I'm 5'8, 158 pounds, 15 years old, not active at all.

On this coming monday, im starting a diet which will hopefully help me lose 1 or 2 pounds a week, but I need to know if it will work. Here is my daily plan:

Breakfast: Honey bunches of oats cereal, 1% Milk
Lunch: Fruit salad, water
Supper: Anything my mom makes (healthy)

I will also be running on the treadmill for about 20 minutes at 4m/h. I've sort of been using the calorie-counting method.

Anyways, will I lose weight with this, or is it a waste of time? What can I change?
You should have some lean protein for lunch so you're not tempted to snack later. Poultry or some sort of soy product would probably be a good choice.

But other than that it looks pretty good.

Drink a lot of water and don't worry so much about calories as fat. Stay away from saturated fats and high-cholesterol foods.

Hey. I've been a veggietarian for nine months now, and I've changed so much. I am so malnurished and I'm having like a million mental break downs. I've become really sad and angry. I wanted to stop being a veggie but its so hard! If you are malnourished, you are obviously not eating well enough.

Being a vegetarian does not mean you eat only vegetables. :-P You need protein, and if you can't bring yourself to get that from meat, you can get it from nuts and legumes, and there are many soy products out there.

You should probably talk to a doctor, though, because being a vegetarian might be a bad idea when you have allergies.

And keeping kosher shouldn't be a problem if you aren't eating any meat. Most laws referring to kosher food has to do with meat(i.e. not mixing meat with dairy, only eating fish that have scales, etc.).

Talk to a doctor about your malnutrition and in the meantime start getting more protein in your diet.

does peanut butter help you lose weight? or is it at least good when your on a diet?

It's pretty good for you, but also has a lot of fat, so I wouldn't classify it as something good for eating while you are on a diet.
