I haven't yet had sex with my boyfriend. He has told me that he hasn't had unprotected sex for 2 years, and so I shouldn't worry about STDs. However, he has been sexually active for 5 years - before 2 years ago he had unprotected sex with several partners. 2 questions: how worried should I be about him having something, that maybe hasn't shown itself yet? And how can I suggest to him nicely that he get tested? (link)

Just because an STD hasn't showed up yet, doesn't mean he doesn't have one. If he was having unprotected sex before with several people, then there is a good chance he might have something. There are STD's that have little or no warning signs or take a long time to actually show. You should be honest with him and tell him you are worried about it and you would feel much better about the situation if he would go get tested...even offer to go with him.
