My dr gave me a Rx for a weeks worth of Medrol to help with swelling. Would it make me gain weight, even taking it for a short time? Is it going to have any type of lasting effect on my metabolism after I'm done taking it? I asked me dr if it would make me fat and she just laughed and said "no, not just for a week." I'm pretty little, so she wasn't worried, but even if it would only make me gain a few pounds, I still want to know! If anyone has taken this, or knows anything about it, that would be great. Thanks!
Call your pharmacist and ask them. They know more about drug side effects than your doctor does, and certainly more than anyone here.

Okay so more than likely I have to get an IV tomarrow for my MRI (i posted a question earlier) and I'm just wondering if they hurt? Like does it hurt more or less than a shot? and does it hurt to take it out? :/

Getting it in your arm doesn't hurt hardly at all. Just a pinch and an odd sensation. It hurts a lot when they put it in your hand, though.
They can numb it, but they usually won't unless you ask. They do it with an injection using a small needle or a cream; the injection works better. If they're going to put it in your hand, be sure to ask for the numbing stuff.

I've been having nosebleeds since I was little, but just recently in the past few weeks i've started to get them daily. Sometimes I'll get them in the shower, sometimes I'll get them when I'm just walking around my house. I'll put pressure on my nose, lean foward, put an ice pack on the bridge of my nose, but it takes about 20 minutes for them to stop. And I always have to blow my nose during it because I feel the mucus dripping down my throat. When I blow my nose, it'll be a big clump of bloody mucus. Sometimes it gets into my mouth and I'll have to spit it out.
Are these serious? Should I call my doctor? Thank you.
For the past week I've been having constant nosebleeds as well, with an intensity I've never experienced. I'm starting to think of going to a doctor, but I've heard they burn the insides of your nose, which I am definitely not looking forward to. I think I'll wait until three weeks to go to a doctor, and in that time I am taking iron supplements to make up for iron lost in bleeding. When I get a nosebleed, I stick a wad of tissue up my nose. If you cut off the end, people won't notice until you get very close to them. I also do this preemptively before I go to sleep, so it doesn't wake me up.
This strategy has worked pretty well for me.

Every time I swallow anything, even liquids I get a pain at the bottom of my throat where it connects to my chest. i know its not heartburn because it happens right when i swallow. also, after i finish eating, the back of that same part of throat feels very cold, almost like i just ate a peppermint. it just started yesterday but its kind of scaring me. does anyone know what this migth be???????//
If the pain is below your neck, it's a digestive issue and you should see a doctor. If it's above or in your neck, it's just a sore throat.

do patients with these conditions feel pain or not? if they have gangrene on their hand and it turns black can they still move it, or does the disease slowly make its way down their arm until they have to be cut off? thnx in advance.
They feel extreme pain and can still move it during the first stages of gangrene. Later on, the affected appendage gradually grows numb, from the outside in.
Gangrene doesn't always spread, it depends on the source of the infection. Sometimes the appendage(especially individual fingers and toes) will just "fall off", and leave the rest of the body unharmed.

during the weekends, and specially in the summer i sleep a whole lot, and when i'm at home, i always prefer to be on my bed watching tv or something, i'm only 15[f], but i'm scared to death that i might get a bed sore/ulcer or something. am i too young to get these or should i be worried already? are they cureable??

Sorry this is kinda stupid. But I never had a nose bleed before, and I woke up this morning, and was on the toliet to pee, and it felt like my nose was running(bc it does in the morning) and so I took my hand to like catch it kinda. and moved it to get a tissue and it was blood. I was freakin out, I never had a nose bleed before, and I scared.
Can anyone tell me what cases nose bleeds? and Why maybe I got one when I never had one before? Thanks! =]

You've never had one before? That's extremely lucky, I must've had them hundreds of times. It's nothing to worry about, it's probably because the air is too dry.

Is it possible to be allergic to mosquito bites? Because I think I am, whenever I get one, it swells up to the size of like two quarters and its hard and red...What do you think?
Some people react worse. You can see an immunologist to get shots that will reduce the severity.
To stop a bite from itching, put a rag soaked in very hot(steaming) water on it for about 30 seconds. It'll stop itching for the entire day, guaranteed.

Gargle water mixed with cayenne pepper. Keep spitting it out and gargling it 'till it's gone, then don't drink anything for 10 minutes. That's my cure of choice, and it always works for me.

Probably not, that comes mostly from wild/feral cats. If you do, it's curable. Wash the bite off and put antibiotic ointment on it.

I got sick two days ago, and my throat has been sore the whole time. It's at the poihnt now that I can hardly talk. I'm giving a lecture in front of my class and it's a huge deal. I can't miss that day or I will fail. Any suggestions to get over this fast? I've tried zicam, apple cider vinegar... nothing works.
Put cayenne pepper in a glass of water. Gargle it, but don't swallow. Wash your mouth out with water, but don't drink or gargle water. Wait 3 minutes and gargle again. Do this for 20 minutes, or until you're out of cayenne water. Wait at least 5 minutes before you drink anything, and don't gargle water for the remainder of that day. You'll be completely cured the next day.

Ok so i've had these i guess you'd say sleeping problems i dont sleep as much as i should and well when i sleep my mom and sister say that once in a while i scream in my sleep like i had a bad dream but the thing is that when i wake up i dont remember that happening and i dont remember having any dreams or nightmares or anything so yeha i was jsut wondering if anyone knows what this is or anything and possibly how i could stop this form happening
When you sleep 6 hours or less per night, your mind tries to make up for the sleep deficiency by dreaming faster, which causes more bad dreams. So just sleep more, don't eat for an hour or two before you go to bed, and turn off all the noises and lights in your room when you go to bed. You'll also sleep better if you sleep in multiples of 90 minutes, so sleep for 6 hours, 7.5 hours, or 9 hours.

Heyy, I've asked a question according to my story already, but I need a bit more info..

The drug has nothing to do with it. It's the actual act of sharing a needle with someone. It's their blood, which is on the needle, that spreads AIDS. You can never catch AIDS using a sterile needle, no matter what kind of drug is in it. AIDS doesn't directly kill you, it makes it so that little colds and stuff kill you. Yogurt will help nearly every stomach problem. Nonpasteurized yogurt contains bacteria that will do all your digesting for you for a few hours. If you feel like you're going to throw up, eat things very slowly, and don't drink water unless you're really thirsty, and then slowly. If you can stand the taste, eat baking soda(pepto bismol is just bismuth, which absorbs stuff the same as baking soda). Crackers and breads are good.
