What does it mean when someone says "The ether was changed"
What exactly is ether? I looked it up but I still don't see how it fits into that sentence.
"The ether" is the invisible medium that everything is in, or the force that surrounds and permeates everything. It is the same as saying "The fabric of the Universe". It can also refer a cloud of invisible stuff, such as radio waves.
Alone, the sentence you quoted doesn't really make sense.

Okay! ( This is sorta long...SORRY! )
I've been liking this guy since the beginning of the school year. His name is Matt. At , the beginning it was like a crush, but now... me and him are friends. Were , pretty close. We have been texting a lot recently. Well... I told him I loved him , and he told me he had a girl friend. He said he likes me as a friend nothing more . Well... before I told him that I loved him... I REALLY thought he was interested. He looked at me A LOT during the week. Now , he doesn't. I don't understand that!! Does anyone know why he stopped? Like, I REALLY still like him. Also... just recently I asked him if he thought I was pretty. He said "Yea." Do u think that means ANYTHING?! My friends think that he might be lieing.... what do you think? Should I get over him? I DON'T want to ... I still LOVE him. He's so nice to me. I talk to him at school sometimes.. hardly ... because he's in 8th grade and I am a 7th grader. Do u think that matters?
Well... PLEASE... anyone help!
Thannnkkkksss!!!
You have asked nine Matt-related questions in less than two months. In each one, it has been clear to me that Matt has no romantic feelings towards you. He has rejected your notes, valentine cards, and even a *poem* that you wrote for him. Your persistence is admirable, but if those obvious statements of love don't move him, then nothing will.
No one with any sense of politeness would tell a woman that she is not pretty when asked. His response doesn't mean a thing.
Your friends are fools if they think that this relationship has any future. He has made it *abundantly* clear that he is not interested.
My advice is to discontinue any friendship you have with him. Your friendship only exists because you have a crush on him. Continuing to communicate with him will only prevent you from exploring alternative relationships, and result in more painful emotional problems.
Good luck!

what's that thing called that you spray your clothes with in case it catches on fire? i know you cannot use a fire extinguisher because it makes it worse. i learned in in school today but i never wrote down the name. it's some kind of extinguisher but only for clothes. & this has nothing to do with stop, drop & roll. thanks!
No, a fire extinguisher will work fine. The most common type of fire extinguisher(ammonium phosphate) will put out fires from any source except oxidizers, which I guarantee you don't have in your clothes.
Fire extinguishers will almost always ruin your clothes. Some fire extinguishers will burn your skin after prolonged contact, and could cause thin clothes to disintegrate.

I have a business which is www.yourstarstore.com. Now I am really depressed I put all this work into my company and I'm still trying to advertise and I havent got any thing out of it yet. I invest almost 2,000 just for the design of the site alone. Please tell me if you can give me some advice are even if someone can help me.
That is a really nice site. Add and in the section, so that search engines like it more. Also, fill out the form halfway down this page:
http://www.bluehatseo.com/quit-quick-indexing-tool
Your PageRank(how important your page is, according to Google) is 0 out of 10. I can raise it to 1 out of 10, just add a link to the bottom of your site leading to theymos.com, with a link text of "enhanced by theymos". Email me when you've done that.

I'm taking English with the most annoying people on earth. They frustrate me to death, and I strongly believe that some of their oppinions that come through our class-disscussions are wrong. My teacher on the other hand agrees with them and says I need to realize that my way of seeing things is..well, a minority. And that the majority of people would agree with my class. So, I need to find out what YOU guys think, honestly, don't agree with me for a high rating, dont disagree to piss me off, just give me YOUR HONEST OPINION PLEASE.
Because I don't want anyone to agree with me for the sake of a high rating, I wont tell you what my opinion was, I'll simply ask for yours, that's fair right? So.. my teacher said "I think that a society like ours that makes economy such a high priority in the end looses it's humanism" and then let us discuss this quote. What are your opinions about this? Do you agree? Or can you find examples that show that that's not quite true?
Thank you!
Yes, capitalism is the root cause of most of our problems. We're constantly at competition with one another when we could be working together for a greater goal; the need for competition is a lie. If you subscribe the that viewpoint you can take a look at alllla.com and anti-capitalist organizations.
The opposing argument is that competition drives humanity to achieve its goals, which is true, but people who believe this forget that people working together benefits everyone even more.
The US government spreads lies as to what communism is, you should research it yourself with a neutral source if you oppose capitalism.

I work at a drop-in center as a part-time student. My boss, who was originally hired as a replacement for another woman who has gone on maternity leave, has just quit. There is a very good chance that our Board will ask me to cover until September, when the lady with the baby comes back.
During my time at the center (I have been here a year and four months), I have been asked to accept a level of responsibility above what I was hired for. Despite this, I have not had a raise - comparable to the replacement-lady, who has had numerous raises, even though she has screwed up in several crucial areas (fund raising, completing grant applications, paying bills).
If I get asked to cover full-time at the center until September, then I would like a raise at least. I don't have to make as much money as everyone else in the boss position did, but a raise would be nice. My question, therefore, is this: how do I politely inform my employers that I either get a raise to go with the new position (and not one that can be taken back in September), or I'll walk... how does one deliver a nice, professional ultimatum like that?
(Feedback with commentary will be given! Thanks in advance!)

You shouldn't make an ultimatum right away, they won't take that well. Follow the guide and see what happens.

my boss offered me a promotion at work the only bad thing is i have 2 younger kid and a beautiful girlfriend the problem is none of them want me to take it . i guess i should say the promotion would move me to monteray mexico it would mean being gone for two weeks home for the weekend but my sallary would triple i mean like 120,000 a year what should i do
Make a list of things you could get with the extra money, and a list of things you would loose from moving. Take the one you like better. If your family has to move along with you, you should consult them as well.

Where can I report my friend who does pot?
he's not addicted to it or anything but he has it and he's done it 3 times.
I hate him he's an a-hole and I want to tell the police so he can be sent to a juvenile detention center.
Where should I report him?
He probably wouldn't go to juvenile detention, just a heavy fine; and that's only if they find proof. I suppose you could report it to any adult that works for the government(public school teacher, police, etc), but that would be an evil, horrible thing to do. And what happens when he finds that you ratted him out? He might go crazy and cut you up into little pieces.

there is this guy at school and i don't know him that well personally but i know a lot of things he does and it isn't good.....drugs and violence. I'm scared to try to help him because i don't want him to think i stalk him or anyhing because i just found out that stuff from one of his closefreinds and his freind showed me evidence so i know it's true....what do i do do i just leave it alone or try to help because he is really nice and i'd hate to see him get hurt
if you're friends with him, talk to him, but don't pressure him. If you aren't friends, don't talk to him about it.

Im trying to be somewhat creative for my bf for this christmas (we've been together for well over a yr & a half by this point) so what i do give him i know he'll appreciate!
I've sewed him fleece PJ's, bought him cute boxers, and now i want more creative ideas..
Any other creative idea's (details wanted if possible)
Firstly, I don't specialize in relationship questions. You probably wanted to ask this of everyone, as opposed to just me. You can do that by clicking "get advice" on the upper left.
Here's my advice, though:
I think it was really nice of you to sew the PJs yourself, I'm sure he'll appreciate that. I would recommend you get him something more material, to go along with you're creative stuff; something he can use, not just admire. Maybe a video game, or you could mix a cd, or a movie; something like that. If you really want some nice creative gifts, you could go here: http://www.findgift.com/

My wife and I own a business where travel is necessary. I have a valued employee that would be very difficult to replace - and he is a close friend, and I do not want to replace him - even if keeping him would pose difficulties.
My wife is involved in our travels, as is our employee. Since we are sometimes away on business for as much as 2 weeks or more at a time, we have structured our travel so that his wife can accompany him. We have given her some light duties and some limited employment, and we pay both her travel expenses, as well as his, including meals and lodging. This is an accomodation for him, and for their well-being.
However, she takes advantage of us at every opportunity. We enter a restaurant, suggesting a price range for the meal we are willing to obtain, and she often exceeds this amount by almost double. When trying to deal with it, our employee lets us know that he wants her left alone by us - but he does not correct her. He appears to be afraid of her.
She refuses to be accountable to us or to him - and has caused several problems on our last trip. She insinuated herself and her agenda into a meeting that she was in attendeance at, though she had no business doing so.
At a restaurant with people with whom we had just done business (and where they picked up the tab), I was horrified to see her take a handful of butter in her hand (and palm) and then butter corn on the cob by rubbing it with her butter drenched hand. It was disgusting, and I had to leave the table for a bit.
When trying to correct the situations, both she and her hiusband say that I am treating them like children, and he will not allow me to correct the situation - nor will he.
An association we all belong to has had some complaints brought against her for her prima-donna actions - and they are being dealt with separately by that organization for her attitude and actions.
Our business is in the area of fine arts, and he is very gifted in this area - and very hard to replace. Replacing him would, in all likelihood, cause us to have to cease operations in our business for 3 to 6 months - and would hinder our business for up to a year. He knows this and, he seems to be aware that they have us over a barrel.
He has been a good friend and is highly valued by us. Letting him go would cripple us, and we have contemplated actually closing our business rather than allowing this to continue as is - or to operate in a crippled manner with his departure. The problem is her - not him - but he refuses to travel unless she accompanies us.
Perhaps the weight of comments from those on this site as to the outrageousness and unreasonableness of her behaviour will convince them that they need to change.
Yeah, you have to get rid of her. Tell the valued employee that either he gets her under control or you will fire him, explaining that the damage done by his wife outweighs the damage done if he is gone(whether true or not). I think the fear of not having a job will get him to stop his wife from doing that.

Ok, first I'm 16/f and a junior in high schoo. And I'm smart, I'm in honors and AP classes. But for some reason I can't seem to talk during discussions and stuff. Like I'm too scared to raise my hand because I'm afraid I'll give the wrong answer and feel like an idiot or something. Even though I'm telling myself I have the right answer I don't try. I feel like I can't talk about something as well as the others in my classes. And I'm really quiet if I do answer, like I don't want anyone to hear me. My English teacher even told me I have good ideas and that I should speak up more, but I can't sem to be able to do that. So anyone have an idea about what's wrong with me? Thanks!
Nothing's wrong with you. Everyone is different, you dont need to change how you do things or do things you're not comfortable with. Only answer questions when you feel like it, don't feel forced into answering, that'll make you feel worse.
