I am really not sure of their friendship I mean we hung out and stuff but I've only dated my ex for 2-3 weeks so it's not like I know my ex well enough to figure out who his best friend is...
All I know is they play football sometimes, go out to eat... and yeah... friend from high school...

Eh it's fine. If anything, your ex and his friend that's pursing you will have a chat about it. You aren't in high school anymore! It's okay. I would wait it out for a while longer than usual and if it goes well, then let the pursuit begin, if it's still just "whatever" then don't push it.
I would just take it easier in this "talking" phase. But your ex is an ex for a reason, so don't give him too much credit!
