I am thinking of having my birthday party at a hotel. I know it happens a lot but I dont understand how thats possible. There will be alcohol... obviously so everyone will be drinking and it just seems like a hotel room would be too small and sense we will probably be pretty noisy it seems like we would get complaints and be kicked out or have to pay extra or something. Plus there will be a few underage girls there so I wouldn't want the cops called on us... can that happen in a hotel or would they only tell you to keep it down?. I dont understand how its possible to have a party at a hotel. Advice, Tips? PLEASE!!! (and also if you know some of the best hotels to have it in that would be cool too. I live in Utah by the way) (link)
The person renting the room by law and by agreeing to the rental is responsible for EVERYTHING that happens there from property damage, under-age drinkers, drugs, assault of any nature, noise etc. It all comes back on them and yes people can get arrested or in trouble with cops.

I remember not too recently in Toronto that an entire graduating class from some school went in on several rooms. Things got out of hand and almost all the rooms in the newly renovated motel were destroyed. It's still being figured out who is responsible and who gets charged.

It's a pretty bad idea in my opinion to rent a hotel room and many won't these days to people under a certain age even if they're 18 out of fear.

I think what you should do is find a hotel with a small ballroom or party area you could rent and have the party supervised there, your dancing etc, gift exchanged and let the hotel staff man the bar, cut people off, or deny under-aged people at their discretion. You aren't on the hook that way.

As far as a room goes for yourself and a partner that's up to you. If you decide to rent one on top of the party don't let people know you have and keep them out. That's the only way I see you can avoid problems with a hotel.
