advice

Ok, so I know this sounds weird but my 12 year old cousin likes to rub her back against the carpet. I walked in on her a few days ago. She was lying on the floor on her back with her legs bent at the knee and her feet pushing against the wall with her shirt pulled up so that her back was rubbing against the carpet. It was kinda weird when she noticed I was in the room a couple minutes later I could tell she was embarrassed so I just kinda laughed it off but I was kinda worried, I mean wouldn't that hurt? You can get serious carpet burn! Anyway, it was just weird and I asked her about it and she said she only does it after she takes her run and she's all sweaty. She said she's been foin it for a long time. She said it feels good when she does it and the only time she gets burned is when she does it on her stomach. When she showed me her back it was really red and it had lots of bumps on it. Soo gross. Her skin sucks and it's probably from what she's doing. I told Brookie that she should stop because it's obviously not good for her skin but she just got all defensive and pissed and told me to mind my own business and that she was fine. So I just walked off and left her alone. But anyway, even though she's a brat she's still my cousin and I'm worried about her? It's just soo weird. I dont get it. What should I do? Does she have some kind of skin problem? I'm 13 by the way and she's 12

Her skin is salty after running from the sweat and this is what is making her skin itch. It would be a lot better for her if she just took a shower after her run and got and maybe got herself a back scrubber to help with the irritation she might be feeling. The friction from her rubbing her back on the carpet is breaking her skin and causing all these bumps, if she continues to do it then she is more than likely going to make her back bleed. The first step to stopping breakouts is to get your skin clean. Talk to her calmly about what she's doing, tell her your worried about her and that she is damaging her skin. She needs to stop and if she continues after your talk then you would probably need to bring an adult into the equation.

Hope this helps xx
