Hey, I'm Melody! I've been giving advice on and off since 2003. I'm a 23 year old military wife, expecting a baby boy in August, and working on my Bachelor's degree. :)

Oh, and ask me anything!

Advice

I'm considering getting a puppy, and I was wondering if anyone knew any tea cup/ toy size breeds. The only two I can think of is yorkie & chihuaha. I know a girl who has a tea cup dog and it's black but have no idea the breed. I dot know her anymore so can't ask. anyway, I don't care if they designer mixes or whatever I just want to know any kind. Also, I have one dog ad she is a westie and wondering how they get along with westies/other dogs.

Thank you:)

There is no such thing as a "teacup" breed. Any breeder who claims to have such "breeds" are irresponsible and stupid.

Just so you know, any animal deemed a "teacup" is just a runt. Now don't get me wrong! I am a huuuuge animal lover, and I am always a sucker for the runts or the "underdog" persay, but I would never intentionally breed them. That's what a "teacup breed" is. Two runts that were bred to produce a super tiny dog. Generally these animals do not live very long, due to health problems caused by their bad breeding.

If a breeder tells you they have a teacup in a litter, it probably just means that the particular puppy is the runt. I am a softie for runts, so if by happenstance there was one in a litter, go for it. They need a loving home just as much as the other puppies do. But never go looking for "teacup breeders"

Chihuahuas are technically the smallest breed of dog. However I have a chihuahua, and she weighs at least 8 pounds. It's usually just the luck of the draw when it comes to the particular size of your pet. Yorkies are the next smallest breed.

That is the best website there is when it comes to figuring out which dog is best for you and your family. They have a complete list, filtering options (lap dog or toy breed for you), and for each dog they have pictures, temperament, descriptions, health problems, and much much more.

I was rated a <--fbscore-->

(Rating: 5) Thanks! I didn't know that, I thought the term tea cup was just another breed. I love small dogs :)
