can anyone rephrase this the way a seven year old may actually say it:
to five little stone lozenges....which...were sacred to the memory of five little brothers of mine---who gave up trying to get a living, exceedingly early in that universal struggle--i am indebted for a belief i religiously entertained that they had all been born on their backs with their hands in their trousers-pockets, and have never taken them out in this state of existence.

two five little stone diamonds that are important to the memory of my five little brother, that gave up on trying to get a job, in that big problem, i keep being surprised that they have all been born so poor that they have been born with their backs with their hands in their trouser pockets that they have never taken them out since they have lived
