how hard is it to dye your hair black by yourself and are there any tips or brands that anyone could recommend? (link)

not hard at all. first drape a towel around your neck so you don't get any dye on your clothes. put the gloves on and mix the dye. apply it to your roots first and then work from there. have a wet rag with you so that you can immediately wash any dye off of your face and ears. believe me, it will stain and DYE the hair on your face/ears, not attractive. make sure all of your hair is covered and damp. you might want to put it all in a shower cap while you wait, but you don't have to. rinse it out after 25-30 minutes.
everybody has their preference with hair dyes, but if you go to sally's, they usually have an affordable and nice selection. :)
