ugh i have a myspace and my friends wont stop talking about how "dangerous" it is. first of all, you choose your friends and you can decline and accept friend requests, so people you dont know cant leave you comments and stuff if you decline them. also, if you set your myspace as private no one can even see your myspace if their not your friend. so if a pedafile cant even get into your myspace then they cant have a conversation with you! and its not like i put my last name or anything, the most i put is my nickname, not even my first name!! i dont put my state or city or school, nothing like that so even if i did accept someones request that i dont know (which i wouldnt) they could find any info about me since i dont have any!! so, if your smart about it theres no way they can track you down. and my friends say that im gunna get raped or killed, but the only people that got killed over myspace are the fucktards who say "i live on_____ in the state of ____ in the city of ____ my name is bob smith. come to my house so i can meet you!!!!" seriously who would do that?! its not myspace's fault people die, its the fucking person who gives them all of that information.if you know what your doing,then nothing can happen. no one knows that myspace is safe until they try it. its this simple: if you dont know a person who sends you a friend request, just decline it. right?? i mean my friends wont stop giving me long lectures about myspace

Well, sorry to say it, but they are true. Even if you turn your website into a private user, and post nothing on it, there are still ways that people can find information about you. Lets say that on your one friend's myspace she has you as one of her top 8, and multiple people can see your picture. In addition, say you left a comment saying something like "see you in school monday" or "can't wait for the game tonight! Go lions (team mascot or something)" or something else dealing with school. Then say that your friend has information about herself and where she goes to school. Put two and two together, and what do you know? Now someone knows where you go to school. In addition, say you played lacrosse or a sport, and you said something about playing school lacrosse. Now someone knows that you go to so and so school and you play lacrosse from them. What I'm trying to say is that even when you think you are taking all these precautions, there are still dangers. Again, sorry, but your friends are right.
