what are some things to do or say when your friend is really sad? he just got a really bad grade on midterms and i am having a hard time cheering him up

if a friend is really sad about something the best way to cheer him uo is to be there for them. if he got a bad grade tell him he will do better next time, its always important that if your friends with him to let him kno he can always go to you so support him and maybe take him to him faorite restaurant or ice cream place that never hurts : )
