Reconciliation for the second time and I just can't get over it

This is going to be a long post. It has been 8 months now since I broke up with my ex-boyfriend who was my first lover (but I was not his first). I did reconciled him after his birthday in May over the telephone but I did not tell him how did I felt deep down inside me. Over the telephone, I told him that I can't be his friend just yet because I need the time to heal myself. He told me he understood what I am going through and he knows what to do right now (distance himself from me). Right now I'm in the acquaintance zone, but I would really like to talk more and be friends with my crush. He's a sweetheart and also the brightest guy in my class. We have a paper to write and I was wondering if asking him for help on it would be a good way to get closer to him. I do not intend on pretending to be "dumb," but rather just asking for some feedback and revising. The problem is that he knows I'm smart and that writing this paper isn't going to be a huge issue for me, haha, but I'm just asking for a little assistance right? I was at a party last weekend. I hit it off with this guy, he's a senior, I'm a sophomore, he goes to a different school. I thought we really clicked. And we were back in the woods at this bonfire. I am 18 year old boy and there is a girl that I like. I am not going out with her but we work together. but it is
strange because I like her in a different way. Usually when I (or a boy my age) has a crush or likes a girl, it is usually sexual or based on appearance. With this girl, all I have cared about was her feelings. I realize that that's a good thing, but I don't feel that way about anybody else, not even other girls I have gone out with.

Okay, so a couple of days ago, I had a really weird dream.
I was in our classroom with my seatmate. He was sitting on a chair and then I sat next to him on the same chair. The next thing I knew, he grabbed my shoulders and pointed me towards him. I saw his lips leaning towards me, and we ended up kissing. I woke up shortly after that. (If anyone can interpret this dream, it'd be really great!:D)

Ok I have never EVER been jealous of a partner's ex before. Except now I have.
In all honesty, I dont even know why I am jealous. I have seen many pictures of her & she isnt ugly, but I wouldnt say shes pretty, she doesnt really make an effort with herself. So I know that its not the looks thing.
In fact I dont know if its jealousy. Id rather be in my situation than hers. But for some reason I couldnt stop looking at pictures of her & my boyfriend together. & im interested in seeing what shes doing now, like if she has a new boyfriend, what shes been up to, looking at her pics etc.

Ok, so the first question is easy really. Though it's something I've kinda worried about for a while about myself. To put it simply, I prefer to be friends with girls, perhaps date them, over sleeping with them. I'd rather stay in for a movie and cuddle than have sex. Does that make me weird, for a straight guy?
