What is Bisphenol A and why is it bad for you?
Question Posted Thursday November 5 2009, 1:05 am

Can someone tell me more about Bisphenol A? I read a few things but I guess they are all over my head since they use a bunch of chemical names and stuff.

It just mostly talks about how if you use plastic baby bottles you will have agressive crazy kids.

Can someone tell me how worried I should be? Are there other things that it is in? Do I throw all the plastic cups away?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical used to make polycarbonate plastic resins, epoxy resins, and other products.

It is used to make plastic hard & usable, to put it simply. It is in almost everything from baby bottles, to DVDs, food & drink cans etc. The only alternative for you to use would be glass.

I did some reading and You're right, its hard to find anything giving a good answer. Most of the sites I would consider legit, say it isn't harmful to humans. Both sides of the argument say there are scientific studies supporting their opinions.

Since it has been used for 50 years, I personally am going to assume that if it was a huge problem, it would have been dealt with by now. Its been around my entire life.

If you want to switch to glass products for everything, you certainly can. I just don't put much stock in special interest groups opinions.
